While I was walking home in Zamallek, a car stopped by. A well dressed man in a Mercedes. He was wondering can he give me a ride, while looking at me like I am low class prostitute. I ignored him for a second, but than decided I need to do something about it. I turned around, stick my finger out and said: "I want you to go home. Pray for what you have done. Be a good Muslim and not talk to women you don't know." He nodded in agreement and said a good night. I felt proud.
On purpose I didn't include what I was wearing, as that doesn't matter. The harassment is not conditioned by the outfit a woman wears and it never should be.
However, on purpose I did include that the man who stopped was wealthy, as I wished to show that the problem is not just concentrated within a curtain class group or even area of the city. It has become deeply rooted within all levels of the Egyptian society.
