I am a female with Arab- European nationality. I went to Alexandria on the 12th of May 2014. I arrived at 1:30 on this day in the morning from Istanbul in Alexandria Borg Elarab airport. I was the last person in a queue for getting a visa and to exchange Euros to Egyptian pounds.
It was already around 2:00 o’clock when it was my turn and I was alone. The clerk of Cairo bank was also the one who gives the visas for the foreigners. He talked to me in Arabic and said wait a minute. He opened the door and then he said come inside. At this moment, I thought, he wants me to sign a paper. Then he sat on his chair, he said give me your hand, so I thought I have to give my finger print, but he pull my hand down to the chair. I looked in that direction, I saw that his pant is open and he was referring to touching him there.
At this moment I panicked and I asked him to give me the visa immediately, he shouted in my face. I was afraid to report him to the officer immediately because although I possess a European passport, I am an Arab woman and in Egypt the law is not on Women’s side.
