I was trying to leave Tahrir via Talaat Harb street, and was between Hardees and Talaat Harb, when I got stuck in a crush with one male companion. A group of men grabbed me, touched me everywhere (over my clothes and under my shirt), pulled at my clothes trying to get them off and attempted to separate me from my companion. I hit one of the nearest guys really hard and was screaming. Although this angered the guys, it also drew attention and 4 men helped to pull me out and get me out of Tahrir. I was shaken, but glad it was no worse and there was help nearby. I am British, 32 years old and have lived in Cairo since Jan 2011. Although I experience harassment daily (catcalling, comments, ogling, following, etc), especially in downtown where I live, this was the first attack of this nature I have experienced.
