HarassMap conducts Training for Media students at Helwan University

In collaboration with the Community Service and Environmental Development Unit and the Violence Against Women Unit at Helwan University, HarassMap conducted a training workshop on how to cover cases of sexual harassment and violence for students of the Media Department in the Faculty of Arts at Helwan University. 

The workshop objective to raise awareness of the definition of sexual harassment and its various forms, and discuss the importance of the media and its role in changing the public perception around sexual harassment as a violation and a crime punishable by Egyptian law.

In that process, this workshop aims to provide support to produce media coverage that challenges and dismantles stereotypes around sexual harassment as well as to highlight how to get accurate information about sexual harassment that is limited to interviewing survivors of sexual harassment incidents.
