I have been harassed more then once in Cairo and in different way, by words, gestures and close contact. Once, I was with one of my friend in the metro towards Dokki station. As soon as we got down , we realized that a boy (teenager I think) was following us, so we started walking fast. When we believed to have left him behind suddenly I felt somebody's hand between my thighs, touching my vagina. I stopped breathing for a couple of seconds, grabbing my friend's arm. She soon realized what was going on and started running after the guy. I tried to reach them ... once downstairs two policemen said that my friend was running in the opposite direction. They asked what had happened and after explaining the incident they laughed at me. Finally, I met my friend surrounded by other men trying to comfort us, praising the Beauty of Cairo, and Egypt in general. When I got back home, i felt really dirty and started having shower continuously.
The second time I was alone going to Khan el-Khalil victim of the same kind of incident. That time I screamed at the guy, looking at two old people sitting on the stairs in a desperate and in vain attempt to help me or, at least, to join my denounce. Once again, nobody did anything.
