During the year we participated in a number of events such as TEDx Kafr El Sheikh, IGMADI Did El Ta7arosh, UN Volunteer Day, and Masterpeace Street Arts Festival. We also spoke at international conferences such as ArabNet Beirut 2013’s panel on Digital Advocacy, Nobel Women’s Initiative conference in Belfast, the Social Good Summit held during the UN General Assembly in New York, ICT4D 2013 in Cape Town, and we also spoke at the British Foreign Office about our work to end the social acceptability of sexual harassment/assault in Egypt.
In December we also attended the AMICA and Henrich Boell Foundation conference “(No)Spring for Arab women? Political Transition and Sexual violence: Examples from the Arab Countries” in Berlin. We talked about the economic consequences of sexual harassment and assault in Egypt, but also joined Dr. Mariz Tadros, Fellow Institute for Development Studies, UK, in her session to talk about our experiences of mob sexual harassment/assault during demonstrations in Tahrir Square.
