We are proud to announce that Beni Suef University has launched a special unit to address sexual harassment and violence. The launch is the first step towards an integrated plan to address sexual harassment and violence against women at the university. Beni Suef University will work with, among others, HarassMap to support in the implementation of the plan, which also includes the adoption of a university wide policy against sexual harassment.
The unit was announced during an event at the university on Tuesday November 22, to mark the start of the approaching 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Based Violence.
Beni Suef University is the second university in Egypt to work with HarassMap on the implementation on a policy and unit to address sexual harassment. Cairo University adopted a anti-sexual harassment policy in 2014 and has since then spearheaded the work of Egyptian universities to stand up to sexual harassment and violence against women.
